911 Style fan

This won't really make much of a difference to the cooling. We have an oil temp guage. The oil in the DoubleCab doesn't get over 200 even running on the freeway in Florida in the summer with the air conditioning on.

We already have a deep sump under the engine that adds oil capacity. We also have a full flow oil system that goes from the engine to a big oil filter to a 96 plate Mesa-style oil cooler. All of this also adds oil capacity. And the 96 plate Mesa-style cooler is mounted up under the chassis in the middle of the truck. It is set at an angle so the bottom of the truck acts as a scoop to funnel the air flow through the cooler. All of this is plumbed with braided hoses using AN fittings. So no oil leaks.

Like we said, this fan isn't going to make much of a functional difference.

We just think that the 911 style fan makes the engine look modern and really cool.

Sidewinder Exhaust

We have a dual quietpack muffler on the DoubleCab now. It works fine. Somewhere on this web site, we have a video of the DoubleCab running. You can hear it for yourself. Just find the video.

But we think that the Sidewinder exhaust will make the back of the truck look a little neater and cleaner.

Disk Brakes

Again, we have the original drum brakes with good shoes and good wheel cylinders. The DoubleCab stops just fine - expecially given the fact that, like most early model VW buses and trucks, it isn't really very speedy.

60 MPH is our usual Freeway cruising speed in the DoubleCab. If we are really pushing, we can do 70 MPH. But 70 MPH is running a steady 4,000 RPM. We just don't like to run that hard very often.

So we don't need the disk brakes from better stopping. We just think the disk brakes look cool.

That isn't much of a wish list, is it?
